So, okay, on the scratch guidelines it says this,

Scratch guidelines wrote:

Keep personal info private.
For safety reasons, don't give out any information that could be used for private communication - such as real last names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, links to social media sites or websites with unmoderated chat.
But I would like clarification what they mean by social medias.

Wattpad, which has dm'ing features, seems to be acceptable? I'm assuming stuff like Twitter and Facebook isn't, but, then again, what do I know? We all know d#scord and stuff like aqqie are highly not allowed, but on the rest they're pretty vague. A unmoderated chat isn't completely defined, as well as social media.

I've seen people link to their website on carrd which contains links to their social medias, what about that? Linking to stuff that's allowed, that links to stuff that may or may not be allowed? Instagram, what about her? Is she allowed?

So, TL;DR what constitutes ‘social media’, are you allowed to link to stuff that links to other stuff, and what are some common examples of no-no websites? that I don't know already because I know d#scord isn't allowed lol

Basically, my whole point, after all of this word vomit, are sites like Wattpad, which is very popular and highly common, alllowed?

i can't believe i typed all of this just to ask one question, i'm so sorry-

Most make sense however,, griffpatch gives out his youtube, and so do a couple other big-time animators and plenty of smaller accounts. Does it depend on the content you make? Like, if I cuss in my videos (which I don't), I would not be able to give out my youtube link, but if I didn't I could?

what constitutes a a social media site with unmodded chat would include Discord, Twitter, Facebook, YT Livestreams, etc., but the reason Wattpad is allowed is because sometimes people publish things to complex or big for scrathc to handle (like the entire yr. 7 harry potter BOOK), but they want ppl on scratch to know about it.

I think they were just censoring the names of the websites.

So, does the hold true for Wattpad too? If I put curse-words in my books, that isn't allowed? If I don't it's allowed?

the profanity, no. excessive blood, no (limits here are dripping scars down your arm, i'd think…) gun violence, no. the scariest monsters imaginable, no.

Please only include what you are responding to when quoting, big quote blocks aren't necessary.

Ok, got it, thank you (which means I won't be able to post my wattpad account username, lol. it always feels uncomfortable and unrealisitc when I read a book with teenagers and none of them cuss at all, but yeah lol-)! So, no no-no things, I understand (:

Links to publishing platforms (such as YouTube and DeviantArt) are okay as long as the content linked is appropriate.
13: ittybitmap wrote at 11:47:16 PM 14/9/20204418549
some st members linked reddit so i think mods can link any social media site but scratchers cant link some, however. (which is fair)

I would describe social media as “Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.” If a platform fits this definition, then it is probably some form of 'Social Media"
yes i copied the definition off of google
If you are wondering what sites are allowed, it's best to use common sense. If it has unmoderated chat, then it's probably not allowed. If it contains content that is not appropriate for scratch, it's probably not allowed.

This should probably get you somewhere.

It isn't good etiquette to publicly announce reports.

Anything that fits that description are banned from having accounts shared, except when they are not, and exclusions are specified by the ST, and if they don't, they should.

That's false. I don't know what Scratch Team member you're referring to, but last time I checked, no one can post links to Reddit on Scratch. We Scratch Team members don't get special privileges like that just because we're on the Scratch Team.

So, let me sum up everything so far from these posts;

- Wattpad, Youtube, & DeviantArt are okay if the content is okay
- Youtube livestreams are a no
- Blood, guts, guns, stuff like that are still a no
- Discord, Reddit, stuff like that are big no-no's, even for the ST

One last thing, what about stuff that links to other no-no stuff? Like if you linked your Wattpad account, which is okay since your content is okay, to your twitter so people can find it? (:
